JP: In a first time singles match, we have Jay’s first title defense (in ROH, assuming the Corey Hollis defense is counted.) They have built this match in a way that is teasing the idea of Adam Cole turning heel. He interrupted Jay’s first promo as champion, Cole accidentally gave Jay a superkick on last week’s television. I personally am all for the idea of Adam Cole turning and displaying that greatness that he has shown in CZW and PWG, but I do not think it will happen here. More than likely, there will be SCUM interference potentially setting up it looking like Cole might win via their help but HONOR LIVES~! and he will not take advantage of the opportunity and Jay will end up retaining. I’m most interested in seeing how the Toronto crowd reacts to the match because Jay has been a tag team wrestler for so long I’m intrigued to see how non-NY crowds react to him in a singles capacity as World Champion. Since it is Toronto, I imagine he will be quite loved by the audience. Match itself should be quite good.
JP’s Pick: Jay Briscoe retains
Ben’s Pick: Jay Briscoe
TJ: Jay Briscoe winning the ROH World Title was an incredibly moment, and I imagine it’s a live experience I will never forget. However, that is the most interesting thing Jay could ever do as a babyface world champion. Heel Adam Cole is one of the most entertaining things in all of professional wrestling. I want to see heel Adam Cole become the ROH World Champion so badly. It must happen.
Will Win: Adam Cole
Should Win: Adam Cole
